We build and grow the body for security of the faithful in greater numbers.
Defence, is to resist an attack made upon or to protect one from harm or danger.
1 Peter 5:8 –
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring Lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour”
God can often give us a vision or a purpose in our hearts, but once we take up that mission, we find hardship, practical obstacles’, discouragement and eventually once exhausted, concede to defeat.
Ephesians 6:12
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
The Bible refers to unseen forces that interact with our world, being of the Spiritual, Demonic, the Powers and Principalities.
Unseen forces are not easy to comprehend nor limited to the realms of the supernatural, but however, are openly acknowledged in the secular world of Business and Government.
These are measurable Forces that exist without physical form, they are beyond your personal influence but affect your daily thoughts, activities and outcomes (your life).
The following Force examples can make or break your success, regardless of your personal efforts.
Market forces
Market forces come in many forms and affect the supply, demand, and price of products and materials.
Technological forces
Technological forces impact everything from how a product is produced, how a service is provided, to how a customer accesses it. These forces may also affect every daily function in a consumer or organisations mode of operation (and personal lives of individuals).
Economic forces
Economic events of all sorts may impact a business sector, from an economic downturn to the government deciding to invest in an international project.
Political and Governmental forces
In the Western world, the government plays a major role in determining how businesses operate, especially in relation to international trade, taxation, and regulations. If your business has government contracts, or receives any state financial support, these forces may have an even bigger impact.
Ideological forces
To compete in the global marketplace, you need to account for differences in ideologies. In some countries, for example, bribery is not only an accepted but an expected business practice. Certain practices that are acceptable in capitalist economies are shunned in communist or socialist states.
In addition, religious beliefs, contemporary cultural political ideologies
(Activist, BLM, Extinction Rebellion, Antifa, Wokeism, etc…) may affect participation/ buying decisions in the current social climate.
Media forces
The media, including social media, can make or break a business activity. A bad-news story can go viral in a matter of minutes, and if your organisation fails to deliver an acceptable response (determined by the media), the repercussions can last for months or even years. However, if the bad news is about a competitor/opposition, that could be good news for you, so be prepared to leap on such an opportunity.
Psychological/Sociological forces
Psychological and sociological forces by influencing thoughts and shaping behaviours, often drive ‘What’, ‘Where’ and ‘How’ the consumer accesses it. More and more consumers, for example, are purchasing products online and reading reviews before making a purchase. As consumer behaviour evolves, your organisation needs to adapt or at the very least, acknowledge changes, to the developing needs and preferences.
Moral/Ethical forces
The safest approach to dealing with moral and ethical forces that impact business is to operate beyond reproach so that your consumers hold your organisation in the highest regard. Employ quality capable people to work for you, associate only with reputable organisations, hold everyone in your organization to the highest standards, and always treat everyone (customers, suppliers, distributors, and even competitors) with respect.
Weather and other Environmental forces
Environmental issues relate to weather, natural disasters, climate change, pollution, and anything else that could impact business. Bad weather events can completely wipe out businesses (e.g. flooding, storms etc). Major negative environmental events can disrupt supply chains, increase the costs and deter customers. Good environmental factors however, can prove to enhance opportunity (hence location).
Legal/Regulatory forces
International & National laws and local regulations may impact everything from where you can set up shop to how much you have to pay your employees and the measures you must take to ensure their safety. Some regulations can be very costly, and failing to honour the regulations may be even more costly.
The enemy is always present, manipulating people and influencing the unseen forces for attacking the blessings of good works in our lives and discouraging Kingdom success and prosperity (the works of Faith).
The enemy wants to break you, separate you from God’s grace and instil fear and defeat!
Resilience
to the ever-changing worldview inspired by the enemy, and to withstanding the enemy, is the purpose of a
Defensive Ministry.
Love,
Praise
and
Worship
are
powerful weapons
against the enemy, whose aim is to instil fear by imposing the opposite (hate, criticism & condemnation).
Romans 8:28 –
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.”
Waist: Belt of Truth (become upstanding).
Chest:
Breastplate of Righteousness (protect the heart).
Feet:
Gospel of Peace (to walk on all grounds).
Defence:
Shield of Faith (dissolve enemies attacks).
Head:
Helmet of Salvation (protects the mind from negative thoughts).
Attack:
Sword of the Spirit
(Word of God).
The Word (being the Biblical scripture) is sharper than a two edged sword - Cutting and with Power.
Hebrews 4:12
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart"
The following instructions given by Paul the Apostle of Christ, provides the foundations for victory in our daily battles with the enemy, and the forces that may work against us impeding and hindering success.
Ephesians 6:10-18
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints;
1 Corinthians 15:57 -
"But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory though our Lord Jesus Christ."
